My 26th year
The other day, I started a new year of my life and I was struck by several things.I have reached the average age of marriage in the USA, though I have never been quick on the draw, slow and methodical is more my way.
I like to think of myself as a minimalist, not a materialist, but I know I am hard to buy for. I am not sure if the gifts I received and so enjoyed prove my practicality or my hypocrisy. I got a fountain pen, 6 fine stemmed wine glasses, and a spoon to replace the one lost in “Ode to a Spoon.” The gifts were all very thoughtful, and things I probably would have never bought myself, and so they will be well used. I also got one of the corniest knick knacks I have ever seen – a 6 inch ceramic cow from my 11th graders.
I received many nice wishes from all over, thank you.
I have been shaving for as many years as I had not.
The next several posts are inserts into the “Journey of the Toothpick.” Then Stanley will tell his account of the same events for a while.
