Copenhagen, Denmark

What an incredible city. I must definitely have something genetically German (from my surname Sheetz) because only cities of Germani heritage resonate with the comfort of places like Copenhagen. I would quite possibly move here tomorrow, if I had an opportunity. I will definitely suggest it as a place for my kids to study abroad. But as a non-Euro currency country in the EU, things are very expensive.

Three greatest things:
How prevalent bikes are, and how the infrastructure supports that. (Have you ever seen bike turning lanes or traffic lights?)

How EVERYONE speaks English (though this is definitely the country that I have traveled to, where I have learned the least of the local language).

How interesting the history is.

In fact, on that point, I think every day in Europe teaches me how insufficient and poor my history education is. Maybe I am the only ignorant one. I'll post the answers in a comment in a few days.

1. Put these three peoples in historical order: The Romans, Charlemagne, and the Vikings.

2. Leif Erikson was probably of which faith?

3. The Norse Gods are believed to be inspired by what culture?

4. Are Scandinavians a distinct ethnic group of their own or do they stem from another? (this question excludes the Finns).

Happy answer hunting. On to Bratislava.

I'm a product of the same school system from which you received your education, with the exception that you seemed to actually try to learn, whereas I skated by and wrote notes to Yesenia all day.

I tried to cheat on number 4, but even my ethnically (half) Scandinavian husband didn't know that one.

1. They are in order: The Romans, Charlemagne, and the Vikings.

2. Leif Erikson was probably of which faith? The vikings although they raided many Christian monasteries in England and Ireland, converted very early in their history to Christianity.

3. The Norse Gods are believed to be inspired by what culture? The Roman Gods (so I guess therefore the Greeks, but the current book I am reading suggests it is actually the Egyptians), through contact along the Roman border in Germany (the Romans never reached Scandinavia, because the Germani were so fierce, so they signed a treaty with them, which gives away the last question)

4. Are Scandinavians a distinct ethnic group of their own or do they stem from another? (this question excludes the Finns).
Pre-viking, during Roman times, the German tribes which were controlled by a small network of lords held the territory of German, Prussia, and Scandinavia

Not bad Ross, 2 of 4. Those are the real answers as posted under annonymous. It didn't show my name for some reason. And in case I wasn't clear on 4, apparently if you are fluent in German, you can get by in Scandinavia.
