"That is the American way. With our executives, we assume that they can do the challenging task that is put before them, and only if they fail do we give feed back...or fire them."As spoken by a big American Executive woman on my trip this week, in reference to the fact that backroads expects us to be able to prepare (granted mostly simple) food, yet they don't train or interview for this quality. What is up with our American way?

So, did she say that in reference to a poor meal? I think you know how to cook. It is the same way with all American business, even in church. If you do not like people, how can you work in a parish?
No, actually she said that because she was very impressed with my cooking. The comment came out of conversation where many people were commenting very favorably on a picnic we had just presented, and the others were surprised that I didn't get any food preperation training from my current employer during our training. She offered this comment as explanation.
