Are you a grad student?
It is a bit like Deja-vu coming back to FSU as a grad student. I live in a dorm that didn't exist when I was here last, and many of the buildings that I have frequented in the last few days weren't here, or I didn't use, and yet a few of them haven't changed at all. The students haven't either, and yet they seem younger.There have been a couple of unique grad experiences. For example, the girl at the dorm desk asked me the title question today (above). I am living in apartment style dorms with 3 flat mates, but most of the flats are for undergrad. She just thought I was a grad student based on the way that I filled out a form about the condition of my room!
It was also interesting to me, that I was very concerned about getting undergrad flat-mates. I had emailed housing after my assignment and they just re-stated the policy that they "try to place graduate students together. " I was the last to arrive, and the first question from my roommates, was basically, 'are you also a grad student?'
But all strange adjustments aside, I actually found orientation exciting yesterday! And I can't wait to start my research assistantship, though I haven't felt compelled to buy books yet. Maybe the undergrad in me isn't quite gone.
